Edgar Allen Poe “ I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat.”
An argument began when I posted something negative about him, and everyone else chimed in, then he put in a frown-y face. “Edgar Allen Edgar the ever tormented and woeful soul; Poe :( is not funny. ”

Guys.
Try this.
It is actually the best thing ever.
I am not kidding.

Berlin Radisson Blu’s AquaDom

The AquaDom in Berlin is a 25 metre tall cylindrical acrylic glass aquarium with built-in transparent elevator. It is located at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Berlin. The AquaDom is the largest acrylic cylindrical aquarium in the world, with a diameter of about 11 metres, built on a 9 metres tall foundation. Filled with 1,000,000 litres of seawater, it contains over 1,500 fish of 50 species. The feeding of the fish and the cleaning of the fish tank is performed daily by 3-4 divers.

This is literally the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.

JENN I’LL TAKE YOU THERE TOO WHEN YOU’RE OVER O V O

ITS A DATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blue waves produced by bioluminescent phytoplankton: Vaadhoo Island in the Maldives, Florida Everglades, and Lakshadweep Islands off India.

Last year when I studied in Catalina, I was able to witness the amazing bioluminescence of its water’s phytoplankton. My group had swum out to sea at night and then turned off our lights. We dipped our heads below the water and “played” with the phytoplankton, then swam back to shore with the glittering lights billowing with our movements. It was a breathtakingly beautiful experience.

This gorgeous necklace is made out of a 19th century fusee’ watch balance, a 3cm AA quality round cut Mozambique garnet with one stainless steel gear and two antique watch hands, one round brilliant cut diamond, .025 carat, clarity SI1 on an 18-inch gold chain necklace. The fusee watches are amazing works of art, some of the last key-wound pocket watches that were made around the turn of the 20th century. This particular watch balance was shipped to me from England, where this style of watch is easiest to find anymore (but frightfully expensive). Many of the fusee watches are very simple, with clean lines, and the only luxurious little flourish to be found is this balance, on the back of the watch, hidden in the case. Every fusee watch balance I’ve seen in this style sports a little old man’s face (or a cherub, or a gremlin, depending on who is looking at it), with a small amount of drilled holes for screws used to mount the balance to the rest of the watch.
This piece has been sold, but I have several more of these to use. The rest of my work you can find on my Tumblr and my Etsy shop at http://northwykecreations.etsy.com

Rafflesia Arnoldii

Rafflesia arnoldii is the world’s largest flower having a diameter of about one meter and weighing up to ten kilograms. It is a rare flower and not easily located. It grows only once a year and blooms for around five days. According to researches in discovery news, this flower that looks and smells like rotting flesh is related to flimsy flowers like violets, poinsettias and passionflowers. Hence it also called as “meat flower” or “corpse flower”. The flower is pollinated by flies and carrion beetles attracted by its vile smell. It contains about 27 species and found in Indonesian rain forests of southeastern Asia and Philippines. Rafflesia is an official state flower of Indonesia, Surat Thani Province in Thailand and Sabah state in Malaysia.

This looks like something out of a video game. Who knew flowers like this were real?

Trying to make crop circles in the winter presents some serious challenges, so Simon Beck walks the frozen lakes of Savoie, France, on snowshoes in order to create these awesome pieces of crop circle-inspired snow art.

For nearly a decade since the late 1970s artist Takanori Aiba worked as a maze illustrator for Japanese fashion magazine POPYE. The following decade he worked as an architect and finally in 2003 decided to merge the two crafts—the design of physical space and the drawing of labyrinths—into these incredibly detailed [and awesome] tiny worlds. Using craft paper, plastic, plaster, acrylic resin, paint and other materials Aiba constructs sprawling miniature communities that wrap around bonsai trees, lighthouses, and amongst the cliffs of nearly vertical islands. If only we could shrink ourselves and explore these awesome little realms on foot!

See more of Aiba’s work here.
